Ford Crown also known as Ford Crown Vic or Victoria is a full-size sedan that was produced and sold during the 1992 – 2011 years. This car had two generations of model lines and was assembled using the Ford Panther platform. Ford Crown Victoria is famous by its durability because of being used by taxis and police departments in North America. Ford Crown First generation appeared in 1992 and lasted until 1994. It had a 4.6 liter V8 SOHC engine available and three transmission options to choose from. These options included the four-speed AOD, AODE and 4R70W automatic ones. The great thing about this 4.6 liter V8 is that no other sedan sold in US at that time offered such an engine option. The model line had a completely new look that was different by the rounded eight-window roofline. The optional package of features included the passenger’s airbag (that became part of the standard equipment in 1994 versions), speed traction control and ABS system. The special trim version of the first generation Ford Crown was called Touring Sedan. This version offered dual exhausts that increased engine capacity to 210 hp; rear air suspension and wider tires that significantly improved general handling. The interior features of Touring Sedan included unique leather upholstery, huge alloy wheels and all the imaginable luxury features available at that time. Ford Crown Second generation of Ford Crowns appeared in 1998 and was produced until 2011. The external design resembled the Mercury Grand one because almost half of the body parts were borrowed from this car. The new version of Ford Crown had some different bumpers and larger headlights; the interior changes concerned the steering wheel. The engine package of the new generation was presented by the 4.6 liter V8 Modular engine and had a four-speed automatic transmission. In 2005 the Five Hundred series replaced the Ford Crown model line but the total amount of Victorias sold in 2007 extended the sale number of the new line by 2000 vehicles proving that a good car doesn’t necessarily has to be technologically advanced .
