Review:

First ever Opel Frontera was presented in 1991 at the Geneva auto show. The interesting thing about this one is that it’s not entirely German and is based on the Japanese Isuzu Rodeo vehicle. The first generation was absolutely identical to its Japanese brother with the only difference of transmission being made in Japan and engine – in Germany. Assembly took place in England. Opel Frontera The first generation of Fronteras was available in two body styles: three-door Sport version and five-door estate wagon. The engine options included the 2.0 liter with 115 hp of power and 2.2 liter one with 136 hp of power. There was also a 2.5 liter turbo diesel version with 115 hp of power. In 1995 the second generation appeared. Modifications concerned the rear suspension where the original springs were changed with slightly modified versions and the lower part of the rear door was placed with spare wheel that was previously placed in the trunk. Some greater changes took place in 1998 when the renewed second generation of Opel Frontera appeared. The changes took place in the grille design, rear flashlights and more severe front bumper. Engine packages were supplemented with 2.2 liter diesel one and 3.2 liter petrol V6 one. The even bigger change was the new electronic system that allowed you to turn the all-wheel drive option on or off with a simple push of a button. This option was working in case the Opel Frontera was driving with a speed less than 100 km/hour. The optional package included an automatic four-speed transmission. Opel Frontera Safety features of this car were presented with the front safety bags and seat belts. Back seats had some height-adjustable headrests. Trunk capacity of this vehicle was significantly increased, the 518 liters could be transformed into 1790 if you folded the rear seats. As for the features of the Opel Frontera, it had a navigation display with CARIN system that had every imaginable function of that time. With all this said, Opel Frontera was and still is a really great car for everyday use.
