If you can’t imagine your life without comfort and high speed, you should pay attention to BMW Z3 - sports car that collected in the United States in Spartanburg, North Carolina. You can find Z3 in two variants - a roadster and coupe. These two models are almost similar except the body type.
Model called Z3 Roadster with a body roadster is an open car. Manufacturers showed the car in Geneva in October 1995. From this first time the car immediately became a movie star - Z3 Roadster became a major car in a movie about the adventures of British superspy James Bond.
Model called Z3 Coupe was first presente
d in autumn 1998. It was based on Z3 Roadster model, but it is available with a closed 2-seater body and has a rigid roof.
In general it is really rare combination - a sports wagon. That’s why model Z3 has fairly roomy trunk and not cramped interior. But it’s not too much comfortable for people with height of more than 180 centimeters because they can’t push the seat further.
If we compare Z3 with other sports cars, it looks like a dwarf because its length is just four meters. Nevertheless the car has impressive outlines with long bonnet and spectacular, Porsche-style rear wheel arches.
The model has a five-speed manual gearbox with clear, short switching. The ideal choice of gear ratios helps to provide high dynamics in the entire range.
This car is ideal not just for sports riding, but for quiet walks. But if you like speed, you can choose slightly more dynamic and faster the second 4-cylinder version Z3 (1,9 l, 140 hp). Speed fans name Z3 as one of the best sports cars because of 2.8-liter capacity and by power under two hundred forces.
Excellent dynamics acceleration and high top speed of a small, windswept roadster give huge advantages before a BMW sedan with the same engine and similar parameters.
In March 1999 car manufacturers released a new version with a 6-cylinder engine of 2.0 liters. In 2000, these cars got new 2.2 - and 3.0-liter engines with 170 and 231 hp.
The family of Z3 2-seater cars contains roadsters with engine capacity of 118-231 hp and coupe with only a 6-cylinder aggregate in 231 hp.
A spy picture of next generation of BMW Z3, done on a on the test route in Sweden, appeared in 2003.
The new Z3 borrows some elements from BMW of 3-series, but it will get better stability on the road comparing with the existing model.
The main competitors will be the Mercedes SLK and Audi TT of the next generation.
