Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has expanded lineup of off-road bikes with a new addition. We are talking about motorcycles KTM 250 XC-F. Motorcycle was introduced to the public by team Factory FMF/KTM GNCC (Kailub Russell, Cory Buttrick and Charlie Mullins) which will be the participant of GNCC Championship in 2011. If you think that the Austrian factory reworked one of his trusted motors then you should leave those thoughts. In the first season Moto3 KTM produced a completely new engine, developed from the ground up specifically for racing the new class. New bike XC-F is based on the 250 SX-F.

Main difference is the components and settings especially designed for cross country racing. The new vehicle has a frame in the style of the last generation SX-F and the SX-F engine with electronic injection. While the 350 SX-F has an electric starter and 250 SX-F kick starter, new XC-F model is equipped with both types of starters. 250 XC-F is equipped with a 248.6 cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine. It works with electronic fuel system Keihin. Motorcycle KTM 250 XC-F is equipped with six-speed manual transmission, 18-inch rear wheel, hand protection, side stand and fuel tank of 9.5 liters. New version of the engine will be produced in 2012. It will barely reaches weight of 25 kg (24.95 kg for the most basic version), but other features not yet disclosed. According to the regulations Moto3, pneumatic or hydraulic valves are prohibited and the camshaft drive chain should be. KTM 250 XC-F

To be eligible to serve in the race, KTM has to produce the engine in an amount sufficient to provide fifteen pilots throughout the season, with the cost of one of the power unit should not exceed 12 thousand euro. KTM earlier stated that the plant works with Kalex, which develops its own chassis for Moto3, so you can be confident in the performance of "orange" required conditions. Also, it is likely to wait appearance of 350-cubic road motorcycle, based on experience in the classroom Moto3. However according to KTM plan it is not worth to wait until 2014.
