Nissan Diesel is a former name of a car manufacturing company UD Trucks that today belongs to Volvo Group Corporation and was officially renamed in 2010. This once was an independent department in the Nissan Motors Group until it was bought by the Volvo guys in 2007. The main business direction of UD Trucks is development, manufacturing and selling diesel trucks, special vehicles and busses of all sizes and body styles. Nissan Diesel America, the North American department, was founded in 1984 with a head-office established in Texas.
There’s a few series of Nissan Diesel busses and vehicles that deserve some special recognition. The Space Runner model, for example, has four series of busses: the JP, JM, RM and 9. The entire line was offered in different versions with multiple units and options. The overall length of these busses varies from 9 to 11 meters, the passenger capacity is 35-67 people with 25 to 37 seats. The basic power unit is presented by a 6.9 liter engine with variation of hp capacity that ranges from 195 to 240 hp. The five- or six-speed manual transmission also comes as basic equipment.
Another remarkable line of Nissan Diesel busses is a series of Space Arrow mini-busses. It’s a small buss that can accommodate up to 47 people, is equipped with a 6.9 liter turbo engine with a capacity of 270 hp. The average length of these busses varies from 9 to 12 meters. The more recent model line is supplemented with an RA High Decker bus, the one that falls under more luxury category, has a higher positioned salon, more passenger seats and a V8 turbo diesel engine with a capacity of 310-430 hp and a six-speed manual transmission.
The most compact busses are presented by a Space Runner 7 series, the average length of which is 7 meters. These relatively small vehicles are often used to transfer a small group of people; their passenger capacity is 28 seats maximum. The basic equipment consists of a V6 diesel engine with 240 hp and 6 cylinders. It is charged with a six-speed manual transmission.
Now all these busses and trucks can be seen in almost every European and North American cities, especially small ones. And if you need to get from one small city to another using public transportation, the Nissan Diesel bus will most definitely be your ride.
