Lexus SC series were produced and sold from 1991 until 2010 and resulted in two generations of personal luxury coupes.
The Lexus SC430 is one of the second generation cars that first appeared in 2001. But the idea of creating this car came into sight in 1999 when Lexus presented the concept of a completely new sport coupe at the Tokyo Motor Show. The ready version of a V8 engine powered convertible was presented at the 2000 Paris Motor Show. One year later the SC430 was available for everyone who was ready to buy it.
The five-speed automatic transmission and a 4.3 liter V8 3UZ-FE engine with the 288 hp capacity were part of standard equipment. The same engine version was installed in LS series of that time. Acceleration time for the 96 km/hour was only 6.2 seconds. The design of the Lexus SC430 was a product of European and Japanese engineering division’s collaboration who worked on this one for more than four years. Well, the long work became a result of an extremely streamlined and exquisite design of a car that already was a piece of art. This model’s exterior design was inspired by the Côte d'Azur’s architecture and lifestyle. That’s why some of the true car lovers may find some resemblance of a yacht in Lexus SC430 exterior. The platform this one was built on shares some sport elements of a GS 430 sedan.
As for the interior of new Lexus SC 430, there never was a car that had so much style, luxury and comfort under one roof. The all-leather upholstery, and not just any leather, the high-quality-soft-and-hand-stitched one, aluminum accents, maple wood accents, chrome Lexus emblems, extremely comfortable seats. The feature package included an amazing premium sound system built on a Mark Levinson technology, navigation system, latest air-conditioning system and all the usual luxury stuff you often pay additional money to have in your car. The Lexus sc430 is sometimes mentioned as "jewel of Lexus" and it’s really hard to argue with that. The car even won the Highest Ranked Premium Luxury Vehicle award in 2004 and 2005.
