The Jaguar E-Type is a sport car staggering with the elegance and unique predatory charm. This model united the pep of racing cars and comfort of the famous British sedans.
The Е1А (1958) Е2А (1960) prototypes were the first models of Jaguar E-Type series, created a commotion on Geneva Auto Show in 1961. The Jaguar E-Type model changed XK model, which had been produced since 1948.
Powerful and swift auto had the graceful lines of the long body, developed sides of the body. It was the embodiment of all magnificence and optimism of Great Britain of the beginning of the 60th. The car did not only look perfect, but it also combined in itself up-to-date technical characteristics with the impressive dynamics. The E-Type reached up to 240 km / h and accelerated to 100 km / h during 7 sec. It was twice low-priced than the most affordable model of Ferrari.
The model was offered in two variants: roadster and coupe with the fastback body. Both models were designed for two. The success was inevitable.
The car was popular not only in England, but also overseas. It was the indispensable property for all Hollywood inhabitants. Especially for the American market was created the version with automatic transmission, later on this variant was lowered the capacity of the engine from 265 to 246 hp to make this model satisfy the stiff requirements of USA ecostandard.
The salon was in line with the sportive spirit if the car: bucket leather seats, fully equipped black or aluminum dashboard and wooden steering wheel.
At the beginning of 1975, Jaguar produced the last 49 copies of Е-Туре. All of them were black and had the commemorative tablet signed by Sir William Lyons – the founder of the company. Totally, it was produced more than 72 000 copies (a huge number for its class).
The last Jaguar Е-Туре was the black roadster that was equipped with V-12 engine and had taken the deserving place in the museum of the plant. It was considered to be one of the most important British sport cars.
