The super car of Audi – Audi Le Mans Quattro (Audi R8) uses the technology of very successful racing cars of the German brand Le Mans. It is the representative of the new generation of hybrid sport cars. The super car Audi R8 uses the same diesel-hybrid technology of Le Mans, so it is created highly effective car. This car is the competitor for Porsche 918 Spyder, the change of Ferrari Enzo and Maclaren P1 in the high-class of super cars. This middle-engine AWD car was presented for the first time in 2006 on Paris Motor Show.
The basic package of equipment includes the 4.2 L V8 engine, which uses the original FSI technology, that produces the maximum capacity of 420 horsepower. So the super car can easily accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h during only 4.6 sec. From the point of view of the safety the maximum speed is limited at the level of 301 km / h. Optionally, it can be available a 5.2 L V10 engine, with the capacity of 525 horsepower. Having any engine type, the car will have 6-lever manual transmission or Audi R Tronic unit. Besides, the R8 model has 4WD and ultra-light body made of the aluminum alloy. The wide application of the light materials such as carbon fiber also speaks as the guaranty of the high quality of the car. The Italian designer Walter de Silvia and his crew created the design of the car. The particular element of the body is the chain of light-emitting diodes under the lights, that is the traditional, characteristic trait of all modern Audi cars.
The standard equipment also includes 18-inch disks with 235/40 front tires and 285/35 rear tires. Optionally, 19-inch disks may be ordered. The car has rear view camera (for facilitation of the super car usage in urban conditions). Also, it is equipped with Bang and Olufsen audio system with 12 speakers. The length of the Audi Le Mans Quattro (Audi R8) is 4.43 m, the width is 1.90 m and the height is 1.25 m. It can comfortably accommodate two persons. The small luggage space in the front end of the car has the volume of 100 L.
