This project was designed by California based tuning and body building studio Galpin, which dedicated it to the 60th anniversary of its work with unique cars. By the way, Galpin is the studio that famous MTV show called “Pimp My Ride” moved to starting from its fifth season.
Galpin Auto Sports Company intends to bring its first super car, mid-engine Galpin Ford GTR1 coupe, to the Pebble Beach Elegance Competition that will take place next year. The model is based on a long ago discontinued Ford GT coupe, but has a really unusual and interesting appearance. In the depths of this coupe a modified by ateliers designers 5.4-liter V8 engine with a mechanical compressor is placed.
The greatest thing about this engine is that it has 1024 hp of power and 1002 N/m of torque. American engineers do not reveal the exact speed characteristics, so the maximum speed is unknown. Galpin representatives only report that the maximum speed exceeds 360 km/hour. For those of you who don’t remember, original Ford GT coupe had this speed around 330 km/hour and it was, of course, electronically limited, and the engine’s power was 558 hp.
\"We tried to imagine what would have Ford GT looked like if it had continued its evolution\" – said the developers of this supercar. Interestingly enough, compared with not so narrow GT coupe (1950 mm width), Galpin version was increased in width by 127 mm.
When GTR1 will become a limited series, buyers will be able to choose from a body made of carbon-fiber or aluminum alloy. The car that was prepared for Pebble Beach Elegance Competition has its body made from second option. Aluminum and leather was also used for interior trimming. We also have some details about the two-door equipment. It has a McIntosh audio system, 20-inch Pirelli PZero tires with aluminum wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes. Exact prices, as well as detailed characteristic of GTR1 will be revealed by Galpin Auto Sports representatives at Pebble Beach Competition in the nearest future.
