Corolla for Toyota is like a woman for man. It can’t live without this model. Japanese sedan sells in 154 countries of the world, and is produced in 17 factories of different continents. By the way, since 1966 almost 40 millions of copies were sold (these numbers even made it into Guinness record book). That’s why Japanese manufacturers are sure that the secret of such success lays in staying true to traditions and constructive conservatism. According to Corolla’s makers, this is what makes it a reliable and long-going car. That’s also the reason Toyota Corolla of the latest generation doesn’t have its major changes in technical characteristics.
The model of eleventh generation is 80 mm longer than its predecessor, 15 mm wider and 5 mm lower. The wheelbase was increased by 100 mm and the drag coefficient was 0.29 to 0.27 mainly due to the careful study of the aerodynamics of the bottom.
The Japanese draw our attention to the quality of building. For example, the gap between the front fender and the door is 3.9 mm (it was 4 mm in the previous version), and between the doors, bonnet and wings - 4.2 mm and 4.5 mm (it was - 4.5 and 5.4 mm, respectively). Alloy wheels have16 inches tires –that’s the basic option that can be changed if needed.
European version of Corolla equipped with 1.8 liter engine is available in S-pack option package. The most noticeable differences of this kit are seen in spoiler installed on the roof and a label under the right lamp. Starting price for this basic equipment is $ 19.950 and $ 31.100. Toyota managers are planning to sell 40.000 of Corollas in 2014. This goal is really achievable, bearing in mind the unbelievable success of this model in the previous years.
The 1.6 liter version has lots of technical stuff that any driver would be happy to have. For example, it has a multimedia Toyota Touch 2 system that is compatible with any smartphone thanks to a MirrorLink application and also plays the role of navigation system. And that’s only the beginning.
