Some details about Peugeot 208 Hybrid FE were revealed. 19-inch wheels, cameras instead of mirrors, developed diffuser: while creating this concept, Peugeot engineers sought to combine the glamour with the exterior look of the car, efficiency of the vehicle and its economical features with sport options. The date of this concept becoming a serial model is still not revealed and French manufacturer doesn’t rush to reveal it.
Double-driven Peugeot 208 Hybrid FE hatchback has finally appeared on the official photo shoot. From what we see on the pictures, the vehicle’s going to be very agile. According to preliminary information, the car will weigh about 775 kg, and will be moved by a team of the 1.2 liter engine running on the Atkinson cycle, and a 30-kilowatt electric motor.
This pair of motors transmits the combined traction to the five-box robotic transmission and is able to accelerate from zero to hundred km/hour speed in eight seconds. In just electric mode the vehicle’s able to drive for up to 19 kilometers. When a petrol engine is turned on, this number, of course, increases. Unfortunately, when engineers inserted the of the hybrid drive in the vehicle (traction battery, power electronics), they had to sacrifice the serial gas tank (50 liters) and replace it with the one with more modest capacity of 20 liters.
From the usual \"208\" model this hybrid differs not only with its power plant, but also with the expanded use of lightweight materials in the body and the chassis construction. This version even has two completely new suspension options: with wishbones, coil springs and stabilizer bars made of fiber glass and reinforced plastic (interestingly enough, fiberglass springs have recently appeared on the Audi TT ultra quattro). All these changes have reduced the average fuel consumption to 2.1 l/100 km and carbon dioxide emissions - up to 49 g / km level. Other official information about this vehicle will be revealed at the forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show that will take place this fall.
