The sixth generation of BMW of the “fifth” series was presented on the 23rd of November 2009. It is released since 2010. In 2011 the fifth series of BMW has undergone a modification. As a result the car has received a changed appearance of the bumper, headlights, wheels, as well as updated interior and new automatic transmission.
Now the car has huge and exaggerated proportions. But in spite of this is BMW 523i still looks proportional and graceful. The headlights are made in the traditional style of rings. A metal strip on the bumper in the inlet and chrome line over the windows became additional details of the body.
Interior is covered with leather with wood inserts. Steering wheel is adjustable in length and height and has an optimum size. Color display helps to park as it shows information from sensors. The driver\'s and passengers\' seats are spacious, but still have not enough space for knees in the rear part of the car. Back sofa is designed just for two passengers. Noise isolation is excellent, at low speeds engine is not audible.
Trunk volume is 520 liters. It is decorated with fuzzy material an equipped with a warning triangle, first aid kit, tool kit and spare wheel (in the niche under the floor).
V6 engine has a volume of 2.5 liters and 235 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm (or 270 Nm at 5300 rpm). There is a choice of four petrol engines (V6 3,0 l., V6 3,0 l. with turbochargers, V8 4,0 liter, V8 4,8 liter) and 4 turbo diesel (2.0 l., 3,0 l . with 3 different torques). You can also select a gearbox, which has 6 stages. Change occures smoothly and quickly.
Wheels have independent suspension. Braking system is equipped with internally ventilated discs. ABS was added with a stabilization system.
523i provides a smooth and pleasant ride. Steering system allows entering any turn on a high speed (turn from lock to lock - 2.6 vol.). The accelerator pedal should not be dent in the floor, as in previous models, the braking system is also taken up in the initial stage.
