This series of off-road vehicle as constructed by British manufacture Land Rover largely being inspired by Willys Jeep of USA. There are mostly three Land Rover Series available like I, II and III. The manufacturer claims that almost 70% of the automobiles manufactured by them are still used. Two or four wheel options with leaf-sprung suspension are available as options. Post second World War Land Rover was being conceived by Rover Group in 1947. Series I production started in the year 1948.  Till 1951 it had a wheelbase of 80 inches, petrol engine of 1.6liter producing 50 bhp.

Series I is being successfully followed by Series II that come into circulation since 1958. With a broader wheelbase that have been increased to 88 inches and 109 inches. The 109 inches wheelbase is available in the Station Wagon category. 

Series III had the same framework of body as that of Series IIa that includes types of station wagons and as well as 1 Ton versions. Series III type is being constructed since 1971. It lasts till 1985. The position of the headlights is being shifted to the wings in the models of this series. The 2.25c liter engine comes with four cylinders and the engine can be worked on both diesel and petrol basis. The various other changes are being implemented in the model since 1982. Easy removal of the half shaft is possible because of the floating design. High Capacity special Pick up was also introduced. This manufacturing company is famous in different countries of the world.
