Mahindra Armada
Mahindra Armada

The Mahindra Armada had been a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and multi-utility vehicle (MUV) based on the jeep. It was produced in the 1990s in India. It was followed by the production of the Armada Grande and the Bolero. The Armada’s design started with the Jeep. In the middle of the 1950s, the \"CJ-5\" Jeep was made by American Motors Corporation. The MM540 Jeep grew out of this model. Mahindra & Mahindra, the automotive firm created the Marshal and Commander series of steel bodied saloons with 5 doors and a long wheel base. The Armada was known as the upscale version of these cars. It was also a flagship model.

The wheels of the Armada were 38 cm with low profile tires that created a lower stance and center of gravity. This made the vehicle more suited to road driving. The later models of the Armada came with disc brakes. A 2.5 L Peugeot engine offered a maximum speed of 120 km/h. the external design included the Bolero style of roofline with rectangular headlamps, tacked-on plastic, body graphics or fiberglass pieces in the grille part and on the bumpers and wheel arches.

The 2.5L diesel engine ensures a power output of 4 stroke over square, 4 cylinder, in-line. Internal features include air conditioning, 8 passenger seating arrangement, and molded plastic dashboards with instrument cluster that is effectively placed. Fold down rear and front seats are also available. The Armada is perhaps the first attempt made by any Indian firm at an MUV/SUV.
