Is the ProCar the best from Alfa Romeo?
Is the ProCar the best from Alfa Romeo?

Alfa Romeo has many exciting things to show to the automobile audience for the next decade. One exemption to this is the utterly mindless project named 164ProCar. The car assembled way back in 1988 and is made up with an aluminium and Nomex chassis, and the body made up of carbon fiber, Nomex and Kevlar for three parts. What is has under the hood? An F1 spec V10 producing 600bhp which may look a little flaccid to the hypercar standard of today. The reason that it just weighs 750kg enables it to crack the 0-62mph mark by a shade over 2 seconds while it tops 217mph.

Now you will ask the question why Alfa Romeo would build a Frankenstein car at this time. In the beginning of the 80s, there was a race called as the ProCar series, which acted as a support act for the Formula 1 race where it involved well known drivers who raced completely prepped BMW M1 cars before the primary event. When the event reached mid-decade Bernie decided that there should be an alternative to the M1s because the BMW product was getting too ambitious. Then started the Formula S series started by Bernie and it replaced the ProCar series. The cars were massive and they sported Formula 1 engines.
