Toyota’s iconic Land Cruiser 70 series re-launching In Japan

To commemorate 30th anniversary Toyota is launching the iconic Land Cruiser 70 in Japan after an exile of a decade. The land cruiser 70 series will be offered in two new versions to the Japanese market. At the celebration an updated Land cruiser 70 was re-released by Toyota. The popular vehicle was launched in 1984 originally and it quickly gained fame for its heavy duty build and sheer long life.

Sales of the Land cruiser was stopped in 2004 but owing to repeated market requests Toyota decided to bring it back in Japan for a year. The double cab pickup will be a first for the Japan auto market, and the conventional van version four-door will also be released alongside. Toyota has retained some of the classic features of the old Land Cruiser which includes the ladder frame chassis and the exterior and interior of the cruiser has been slightly updated.

Under the hood a 4.0 L \'1GR-FE\' V6 is inducted which is borrowed from the latest Land Cruiser. The powertrain generates a power of 228bhp and 266 lb-ft torque and the fuel economy is claimed at 13 mpg overall. A five speed manual transmission works as a power distributor in the model and it is moved by a rear-wheel-drive.
