\"Today, the mission is accomplished\" announced the chief of Volkswagen Group, Martin Winterkorn at the greenhouse restaurant in Zürich, referring to the promises made by Volkswagen. Achieving this significant milestone in their chase for leadership in electric mobility technology, Winterkorn was referring to the all-new Golf GTE 2015, which is a hybrid car model with a 1.4-liter 4-cyclinder gasoline turbo plus an electric motor offering a combined output of about 201 HP.
With a new E suffix got added to the all-time favorite, this new Golf features the right lend of ‘Efficiency’ and sportiness coming together.
GTE is counted as a mighty sibling of the other fun-drive models from Volkswagen as Golf GTD and GTI.
The performance figures of the GTE seems to be pretty convincing. Zero to 60 mph sprint is taken in a fair 7.5 seconds and the top speed claimed is 138 mph. VW also claims that the new GTE can run 31 miles on pure electricity. The Euro 6–compliant engine is fully fume-free and ultra clean. Being a highly economic alternative to the fuel-eaters, GTE offers a mind-boggling 157 mpg. The new GTE\'s engine, transmission, and electric motor are commonly shared between the new Audi A3 e-tron; however we can see that VW was the major partner in developing this powertrain.
