Mitsubishi expands range in India with Pajero Sport Auto launch
This month Mitsubishi will be launching its Pajero Sport 4X2 automatic in India. This has been reported by us earlier in August as Mitsubishi was aiming to expand its Pajero Sport India range by introducing an automatic alternative.
Pajero Sport current model sports a 2.5 L 4-cylinder diesel engine coupled to a 5-speed manual gearox but the proposed Pajero will be using a 5-speed automatic mated to the same configuration engine like it is with its sibling. Manual pajero comes with the 4x4 setup where as the automatic variety will be offered with a 4x2 setup only. More aesthetic enhancements are to be given to the Pajero sport automatic. New bumpers and grille are to be added to the exterior while the Automatic will get more equipment for the inside to give a high end market feel. Buyers may have to pay a premium of Rs.1 to 1.5 lakh over the existing Pajero model when you want to buy the Automatic. The new Pajero will be taking on competition like Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Santa Fe when it is released. There is also the news of Mitsubishi launching Pajero Sport Limited Edition painted in dual tone.
Meanwhile there is good news for auto customers in India as Ford has opened retailing of spare parts for its vehicles in the Indian capital. The open marketing selling of spare parts from Ford was reported earlier in an effort to facilitate the customers’ requirement who own the company vehicles. This would drastically reduce the waiting period as well as bring down the spare part costs as well as the uncertainty over the quality of the spare parts. Availability has already been started over the counters since November 14, 2014 in retail markets. The move however is not affecting dealerships and they will continue stocking Ford spare parts in their stores.
