Suzuki SX4, a Compact SUV comes with an Allgrip System

The launch of Suzuki SX4 some thought was overshadowed owing to a simultaneous launch of Maruti Celerio this year at the Auto Expo. Although one has reasons to believe that this other model of Maruti, the SX4, is more significant for the brand and the model is Maruti’s attempt at successfully launching itself in the compact SUV segment which also seems to be the present craze in India.

A car’s styling plays an integral part in ensuring both its personal success as well as how well a job it will perform as an image builder model for any brand. As far as Suzuki SX4 goes, the car does not seem to possess the spark or an innovative design which grabs the headlines. The styling is such that it appears more a crossover than anything else, a combination of a compact SUV and a hatchback. The grille reminds of everything a conventional Suzuki model has and a bluff nose design added to the grille doesn’t do much to enhance its presence on road. The two part tail lights works to remind one of a previous generation Hyundai.

One shouldn’t get too disheartened for SX4 still manages to inspire a certain quirky response through its assortment of several appealing pieces in its designing; the first being an addition of LED headlamps with daytime running diodes in its top spec version. The turning of SX4 into a true off-roader lies in the 4x4 system which works on demand. This four-wheel drive system is called Allgrip by Suzuki and this offers three modes: Auto, Snow, Sport and Lock. This system is lightweight and a clever piece of technology installed in the vehicle, but whether or not the Indian version will have it is still debatable. The Chances although are less but it may as well become the highlighting feature of SX4 and be sold to success based on just this feature.
