Paparazzi have finally took a picture of a new Jaguar compact sedan

Our favorite photo spies have finally made a picture of the new rear-drive Jaguar D sedan that was tested a couple of days ago and is expected to appear in the international auto market in several years. We have a first detailed visual confirmation that the new Jaguar compact sedan is a reality and not just any pending project that is constantly being delayed and represents a part of the Jaguar Land Rover global plan of expanding their model line.

While we have some pictures of the new Jaguar that was caught on the public roads during the test drive it’s still too early to discuss the exterior design of the future model. The caught by paparazzi vehicle is just a test XF version that the new XS series will be based on. While we still have no idea what the new compact Jaguar sedan will look like, there’s news that its competitor, the future BMW 3-Series sedan will be based on the completely different light modular platform called Premium Lightweight Architecture. The BMW’s debut is planned on 2015, almost the same time the Jaguar sedan is expected to appear.

The new Jaguar pictures that appeared on the Internet just recently are great, but it’s absolutely impossible to determine the approximate XS series’ length or wheelbase from them. It is clear however that the front and rear track’s width are noticeably lower than the XF.

As for the engine and transmission options, Jaguar XS series will have the already familiar from the other series JLP lined four-cylinder turbo engines and compressor V6 motors as well as the new ten-speed transmission box produced by the German Company ZF and possibly the manual transmission option too. The basic Jaguar XS feature packages will include the rear-drive with the possibility to change it to the all-wheel drive option supplemented with the electronically plugged front axle. The Jaguar can become one of the Company’s leading series and increase the European market share as well as International’s. We’ll have to wait a few years to find that out.
