Mercedes-Benz has been at the helm of offering safety cars always for Formula 1 and its latest offering of the C63 AMG Estate and SLS AMG pair is as good as any open-wheel car lighting it up at the F1 Championship.
But the time has come now for replacing both these models as the SLS AMG is already dead and the C63, a former Mercedes-Benz has become the Mercedes AMG’s redesigned C63 now. Mercedes has commenced two brand new safety car models for F1 for the year 2015. An AMG GT-S and a C63 Estate and are they sexy! Both are fitted with light bars, and both carry a new twin-turbo V—8 4.0 Liter from AMG.
Here we should notify that the new version like the last C63 Estate safety car fulfills the wagon perfection just about. This Estate with 510 horses is a cool car and almost overwhelms the Mercedes-AMG GT-s. Of course, these two serve two faintly different functions in the safety car segment for F1. The AMG GT-S works as a safety car/pacing duties while the Estate functions as a quick-response medical unit. The duds for both the cars are very identical though, which include the black-painted wheels, silver paint jobs and decals in black. Gold-painted calipers clamp the large carbon-ceramic brakes of both models which nicely blends with the lights bars with amber caps. Further, the “stroboscopic effect” of the headlights and taillights in the AMG GT-S makes it more unique. Whether it is necessary or not we are not sure, but it certainly helps other cars to identify it in low light or inclement weather.
Both the safety cars also feature an iPad features apart from the conventional communication and radio systems, and that help the cars to keep tab on race status and they also feature a Marshalling System which according to AMG will let the driver know of the different flag situation prevailing in the F1 circuit in different parts, more info on the website.
