VW is an establishment that likes to assume that nothing can wrong with its plans, so you can surmise their top echelon scratching their heads over the rather poor sales of its Tiguan compact crossover in the American market, and that too at a time when the segment it belongs to is on fire. Well, you can explain this phenomenon with three reasons:  it is small, it is mediocre and thirdly its base price of $27,120 for a stripper, which is quite expensive for a small and mediocre model.

But it can never be quoted that Volkswagen refrain from seeking redemption for its mistakes. In this case, the maker hopes that when the new models for 2017 commence that the mistake will be corrected. To begin with VW will adopt the marvelous MQB modular platform which has transformed many Audi and VW compacts with quality and liveliness. The second redeeming step is the length of the car which grows to accommodate a third row in the US edition. Sources revealed that US will only receive models with an extended wheelbase, and they will be available in both two and third-row forms. As we understand there is no short wheelbase model planned for the America.

The final step is quite significant, because the Tiguan is going to be produced at the massive VW’s assembly plant located at Puebla, Mexico and it will be at the rate of 500 units per day at full tilt. The manufactured vehicles will then be dispatched to various markets including North and South America, China, Europe says Volkswagen.This move will allow VW to reduce the price of Tiguan to dramatic proportions so that it could be pitted against rivals like Honda CR-V, and Toyota RAV4 and both these models have no third row to offer.
