Porsche as part of the Sports Chrono Package is offering the Performance Start function to the diesel 2015 Cayenne. The same feature is also offered in the 2015 Cayenne S and Turbo models. The package helps the drivers to launch the Cayenne in the most efficient way possible from a stopping start.
The Performance Start is not like the launch control of full-bore that used to propel the PDK fitted Boxsters, 911s and Cayman towards the sky, but this allow the driver to catapult the Cayenne from start with full-throttle after ignoring the brake pedal. This Performance Start according to Porsche cuts off 0.1 second for the 0-60mph of the Cayenne. The Porsche SUV with compressions ignition is already termed as an oddball vehicle; this new gadget further enhances its status as the member of a small band of production diesel automobiles that comes with the same technology. For example, the BMW 328d long-term model wagon has the launch control.
How does it work? The driver by pressing the Sports Plus button located on the center console activates the feature. The Cayenne at a halt and the eight-speed in engagement, the driver push the brake pedal and also mates the accelerator pedal to the floor. The indication of the Performance Start program having been started is flashed. Two seconds later the driver passes the brake pedal while the accelerator is mashed down, the Cayenne is launched in the most efficient way possible as Porsche describes the launch. The process includes 1-2 and 2-3 up shifts in extra quick time happening at a possible engine speed to utilize the peak power and torque of the Powerplant.
The entire process does not require any fuss or muss and the Cayenne with the compression ignition pulls a cunning holeshot. It looks as even the thriftiest can have some hearty fun at Porsche.
