At last the world has seen the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro arriving, and its looks extremely toned and trimmed and raring to go after the blood of Ford Mustang. The car has been mentioned by us already, but you cannot miss talking about Mustang when you are discussing Camaro, like you cannot refute the fact that Chevrolet has been overwhelmed by Ford for fifty years.
The first response of Chevrolet was the 1967 Camaro, and that was two years late to Ford’s original Mustang. Traditionally the Mustang has been outselling the Camaro, and during 2003 to 2009 the nameplate was scuttled many times which are an insult that Mustang never had to bear. Worst of all is the failure of Camaro to Mustang in comparison tests by us.
The memories have now been wiped clean, and the Woodward Avenue is now freshly being prepared to resume battle in road course and drag strip. The Camaro now comes with a bevy of latest technologies and course with more muscle. This is going to be a mouth-watering contest.
Among the potent tools that the new Camaro of sixth generation carries is its platform which is GM’s Alpha architecture, which is also the underpinning of Cadillac ATS and CTS known for their kick-ass driving dynamics. According to Chevy, the new car is rigid by 28% compared to the old, and 70% of a component set of Alpha is unique. The only parts that were carried over are the SS badge and the bow tie on the decklid.
The new Camaro is slightly smaller in dimensions owing to the Alpha architecture, and the 2016 model is going to be over 2.3 inches shorter, 1.1-inch shorter in height and 0.8 inches narrower to the predecessor. Wheelbase has been reduced by 1.6 inches, and the front, and rear track measurements have been reduced to 0.4 and 1.1 inches respectively. This would vary with the trim level one chooses.
