The spy shooters are at work, and the 2017 Ford Escape images are out! What you see under the camo is a Ford Escape with styling changes which are allotted for the mid-life refresh of the model. The Escape of today debuted roughly at the same time as the 2013 Ford Focus, and the platform is the same that they share.
Though looking handsome still, the Escape is certainly deviating from the younger faces such as the Fiesta compact, Fusion sedan and the recently updated Focus of the lineup. Now coming to the point of why this vehicle is here, a refresh for 2017 is little late as it arrives late next year, by the time the Escape would complete four years of sale. Ford may not be in an unduly rush to refresh it as the sales figures posted by the model since its arrival have been phenomenal. The annual sales numbers increased from 261,008 in 2012 to 306,212 in 2014.
In spite of this, the Escape still faces competition freshly from the updated 2016 Mazda CX-5 and slightly retuned Chevy Equinox, the irresistible Honda CR-V and the RAV4 of Toyota, the permanent powerhouses. This would also transpire into an imminent refresh for the Ford vehicle.
What we expect is some changes to the front-drive platform based Ford Escape but for every car that is sitting on that platform would require a few changes. As the images clearly show, there is restyling to the front and rear of the SUV, and the major change witnessed is in the front. These updates would include replacing of the thin upper grille, elliptical headlights, and the triple lower air intakes. This can be seen from the visibility of the large grille sitting on the sizable horizontal bars. The alteration is mimicking the 2015 Focus and also brings it in line with the Ford Edge and Explorer.
