The world premiere of the renewed and updated Skoda Superb liftback will take place on April 19 at the International Motor Show in Shanghai (China). The station wagon version of this car will also be presented at this show. The European sales of the new Superb are expected to start by the end of June 2013. Other markets will be able to receive this car by the fall of this year.
The new Superb has a completely renewed grille that has become significantly larger. New Skoda Superb also has a renewed logo design, front and fog lamps, new bumpers and front fenders and redesigned hood. Seems like there hasn’t been a detail that stayed untouched by the designers, yet the vehicle looks like its previous generation. For the first time in the model’s history the bi-xenon headlamps with integrated LED daytime lights became available. The rear lights got the three stripes of LED. Other new characteristics include two triangular logos in the sedan’s trim.
The new Superb has nine different versions of 3 - and 4-spoke steering wheel modifications. The rear passengers now can control the front seats via electronic controls. The driver’s seat is equipped with an umbrella compartment. The fifth Twin Door received a dedicated button for each trunk position. In addition to these options new Skoda Superb sedan is equipped with an electric sunroof with integrated solar cells and a panoramic sunroof with electric controls in the wagon modification. The automatic locking and starting system, the remote key authentication system called KESSY and Columbus navigation system with color 6.5-inch touch screen and built-in HDD with a storage capacity of 30 GB are also part of the default features of the new Superb.
As for the engine package, it was changed insignificantly.
Skoda management states that some of their models became more economical by 19% due to the innovative regenerative braking and start-stop system. The engine option for the European market includes the same 1.4 TSI gasoline engine with 125 hp of capacity that is currently installed on most of the serial Skoda cars.
