Deutz-Fahr DX is the series of tractors. DX series is the successor of 6-cylinder D-series. The model was introduced in 1978. During the whole years of the model assemble years, the tractor was available with 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-cylinder engine. This series was the first one in the model range that has \"Deutz-Fahr\" in the name. This vehicle was painted in green color (Deutz74), the same color was used for D-06. The exterior of the car was totally reworked. It had got a new hood of trapezium-shape, new exhaust pipe and the matching cab type – Mastercab.
The construction of the cabin provided a good observability. When the engines were with air-cooling system, diesel power unit of Deutz were not aside and had one or more turbo-chargers. In 1978 the model line of this series contained DX 85, DX 90, DX 110, DX 140, DX-160 and DX-230. In the 1980’s, the range was extended with DX 80, DX 86, DX 92, DX 120, DX 145 and DX 250 models. Farmers liked the simple, rugged air-cooled diesel engines.
The junior model of the series - DX 85 had 5 cylinders, the working volume of 4.7L and could show the power output of 80 horsepower. As for the transmission, it had 15 forward and 5 reverse gears.
The most powerful one was DX 430, it could show the power capacity of 260 horsepower.
On the most part of these tractors was used a new TW-90 transmission, the models with the power output of 200 and more horsepower were equipped with ZF Friedrichshafen gearbox. The name of the tractor also contained the information about the number of cylinders in line.
In America DX series was assembled by Allis-Chalmers - the American manufacturer of farm equipment under the name Deutz-Allis.
The successions of the series (Agrostar, Agroprima and AgroXtra) used a lot of the same components as were used on DX series.
This model was a good aid in agriculture and quite reliable one.
