The doors to the Shanghai Motor Show will open petty soon. Within this Show Maserati Company was supposed to present its newest sedan, the Ghibli model. Last week Italian manufacturers have promised to show us the first pictures of the car and they kept their promise. With some cool pictures of this amazing car some of the technical characteristics were also revealed.
Ghibli’s length is 4.9 meters. It is built on the shortened platform used for Quattroporte’s sedan construction. The car looks so familiar you might easily mistake it for its older brother when you see it for the first time. Well, apart from the smaller size, new Ghibli sedan has lots of differences you can spot between it and the Quattroporte. The overall look of the car, from outside and from the inside is different, more aggressive and dynamic lines and forms are used, along with brighter colors and materials.
The control panel’s architecture of the car is absolutely different from the one Quattroporte has. Apparently the changes are dictated by the compact size of the vehicle.
Ghibli sedan has also something really special to offer. It will be equipped with one of the available V6 engines with the capacity varying from 330 to 410 liters/second and a turbo engine with 270 hp of power. The turbo engine is also interesting because of its history. It is designed by the former Ferrari’s Formula 1 driver, Paolo Martinelli. That way Ghibli sedan became the first ever non petrol car produced by Maserati Company. Every engine option has a default eight-speed automatic ZF transmission. They say the fastest Ghibli will be able to gain the 100 km/hour speed in less than five seconds, well, that’s a great result for a sedan. Oh, and by the way, the most powerful Ghiblis will be equipped with the all-wheel drive.
The exterior design of the Maserati’s new sedan is more aggressive than Gran Turismo’s one. The car is expected to make competition to BMW 5 and Audi A6 sedans. The starting price for a basic Ghibli version is 60.000 of Euro.
