American Epic EV Company, known for its electric version of a legendary two-door DeLorean DMC-12, has sold its first TORQ Roadster bolides. We’re talking about the low electric tricycle with open two-seat coupe. The main purpose of this vehicle is to shame the ordinary sports cars during the track races and make it without actually trying. Apart from this TORQ model being mainly a track car, it can also be driven on the roads.
TORQ Roadster is set in motion by an electric engine with a capacity of more than 300 hp and 812 N-m with the front drive option. Such smart equipment is chosen to decrease the overall weight of the car and tire rolling resistance. The result is more than impressive, this vehicle can gain the 97 km / hour speed in less than 4 seconds. The maximum speed is unknown but it is not that important since the car is built specifically for round tracks. The lateral acceleration of 1,3 g and 2045 mm of length with low gravity center, on the other hand, are something true car lovers will be more than excited about.
TORQ Roadster’s price is $65.000 and the great thing is that it’s sold not only in US but in Europe as well. The number of copies though is very limited and consists of only 50 vehicles. Epic EV Company is planning to start the serial production of this vehicle. The first commercial model of the vehicle was given to David Veszprém, the former Public Relations director of Tesla Motors.
For an electric car TORQ resulted to be really light, it weights only 998 kg. This weigh is partially explained by the carbon fiber used in the vehicle’s construction. The length of this one is 4115 mm, width is 2210 mm and the height is 1219 mm. The batteries can get you through 160 km on a single recharge, the charging time depends on the socket characteristics and takes from 1 to 6 hours. The EV TORQ Roadster looks like something you might want to ride in a very difficult terrain but the only road you’ll feel comfortable enough at is the track’s one.
