Porsche 996 or Porsche 911 Carrera as it is known all over the world is a series of sports cars produced and sold since 1998 until 2005 when it was replaced by the 997 body type. When it first appeared in 1998 it was clear that this model has significantly changed since its first introduction in 1963. The greatest change resulted in the new engine that was no longer air-cooled but was water-cooled. This modification was necessary due to environmental regulations and higher performance expectations among the Porsche lovers. Other changes were visible and included a sleeker body line of the car with renewed and redesigned interior. Porsche 996 The first ever Porsche 996 models were available in two body styles: the two-door coupe and two-door convertible. The design of this new series was made by Harm Lagaay who managed to Improve the previous look by adding some new features but at the same time balanced the original Porsche style. The engine options on this series included the 3.4 liter H6 or the 3.6 liter H6 engines that were supplemented with five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. The turbo version of this car appeared in 2000; it was equipped with 3.6 liter turbocharged H6 engine and four-wheel drive system and was able to obtain 420 hp (309 kW) of power. The acceleration time to 100 km/hour took only 4.2 seconds. There was an X50 available in Porsche 996 model line of 2000 that included even larger turbochargers along with intercoolers. The engine control software was available since 2002 and was able to increase the car’s power to 450 hp (336 kW). Porsche 996 It’s not a big secret that Porsche 996 is the most powerful sports car of the entire line and maybe even among competitors, but the exterior design is also a great thing to be proud of if you own a car like that. Porsche 996 had and still has every possible feature you could wish for in a spots car beginning from every airbag and ending with exceptional audio system, but the greatest thing about any Porsche is and always was the incredible level of comfort and freedom it gives you.
