The first generation of the famous 5th series of BMW has debuted in September, 1972. The sedan of the middle class with the classical arrangement has the characteristic "nostrils" on the hood. The car differs with the high assurance coefficient and security. The first models (520 and 520i) were equipped with the only 4-cylinder M10 engine with the volume of 2.0L and the capacity of 115-130 hp. BMW 5

In 1976, the BMW 5-Series was reworked for the first time. More than 40 details of the construction and the design were changed. The last 6 generation of the BMW 5-Series appeared on the market in 2010. This model got the F10 index. The car was produced on the BMW automobile plant in Dingolfing together with the new BMW 7-Series F01 and BMW 5-Series GT. The sedan became taller, it was based on the shorten base of BMW 7-Series. The length of the new one was 4899 mm, the width was 1860 mm and the height was 1464 mm. The wheel base was 2968 mm. The creators characterized the novelty as elegant, secure, dynamic and successful one; the model was given back the strict classical lines. The engine range consists of 7 power units: 4 gasoline ones and 3 turbo diesel. The top version (BMW 550i) has the V8 bi-turbo engine with the volume of 4.4 L and the capacity of 407 hp. It can reach the maximum torque of 600 Nm. The other gasoline engines are in line 6-cylinder. The turbo engine of the 535i version has the capacity of 306 hp. For 528i and 523i are offered 2 engines with the capacity of 258 hp and 204 hp accordingly. Diesel versions (530d and 525d) can provide the capacity of 245 and 204 hp. The last one is 184 hp 5.2 L 4-cylinder engine, it is offered for BMW 520d. It is the most efficient engine from the whole line. The transmission may be the 8-speed ZF automate or 6-speed manual one. Optionally, it is proposed a Dynamic Driving Control system, integrated active steering management or Adaptive Drive system. The driver will be aided with automate parking system, the system of all-round observity, the tracking system, the system of night vision etc.
