Engineers are at work testing an electric car that can park itself into a carport at home. The car can also charge the batteries aided by a remote charging station after it parks itself. This is good news for drivers who cannot park cars efficiently.

While confirming this Kazuhisa Sato, Honda’s chief researcher said that the system is highly efficient and convenient for people who are not experts. Honda demonstrated the technology in Tokyo outside a house on Monday. Data concerning the house location and garage is fed into a computer installed in the vehicle. Instructions are given to the car via a smartphone held by the driver to drive into the garage. A group of cameras installed in the hose and the garage ensure that the vehicle is parked properly by avoiding obstacles. Once it is done the driver can instruct the car to charge its battery and the charger is a wireless device located under the car and it does not require any plug to connect.
