Evora 400, the comeback car of Lotus now has its price released for the U.S.
Evora 400, the comeback car of Lotus now has its price released for the U.S.

After leaving out the model year 2015 owing to compliance issues raised by the government regulations, Lotus Evora is now returning to U.S. market for 2016. The revised Evora 400 mid-engine GT will be carrying a price of $89,900, according to an official release.

This would place the Evora 400 halfway between the $84,300 Porsche 911 Carrera and $98,900 Carrera S as they are currently priced. Here the destination charges of $995 are not included. In our reports, we include that normally but we are not sure what Lotus destination charges are going to be.

The 400 in the nameplate points towards the power output of Evora’s engine, which is revised, and it is a 3.5 Liter supercharged Toyota V-6.  The engine produces a torque figure of 302 lb-ft, and the car has gone through some changes in styling. You can say that the entire package has been considerably tweaked with narrower and lower doors sills and upsized back seats, widthwise. For the first time, the model gets a limited slip differential. The most significant in the Evora 400 is the deployment of smart airbags meaning that it will face no issue in selling here in America again. So what is the outcome of all this? According to an official statement, the car will be arriving at the U.S. shores in December.

The Evora 400 carries impressive numbers. The finely tuned 3.5 Liter engine is capable of delivering 400-hp which is an increase of 55-hp and 302 lb-ft torque. The Evora has also reduced its weight by 49 pounds and now carries 3119 curb weight resulting from a 0-60mph timing of 4.1 seconds. The car boasts a top speed of 186 mph and according to Lotus it is six seconds faster than the Evora S on the Hethel test track, and it also matches the Exige S in the lap timing.
