Andy Palmer, who is responsible for product planning in Nissan Company, stated that the new golf-styled hatchback that will become available next year will be as good as Volkswagen Golf itself, the car it was based on. The appearance of a C-class Nissan hatchback is not that far away, according to Andy Palmer’s recent interview to the British Auto Express magazine, the sales of this car will most likely start by the end of next year.
The main reason for creating this car was the extreme success of seventh generation of Volkswagen Golf that won the titles of WCOTY and COTY in 2013 and in the previous years too and this was obvious right from beginning. The new thing is the fact that Mr. Palmer finally had the courage to declare that Nissan’s new C-class vehicle will be compared with Golf and most importantly, will be as good as German car is. This presumptuous statement may turn against Nissan Company when the car comes out, so the talks of it being as good as Golf is better be true. Seems like Nissan’s engineers have lot of work to be done.
>So what features of the Nissan’s new vehicle will be responsible for it being as great as VW Golf is? First of all, according to Andy Palmer, these features will be seen in model’s dynamics and its general quality perception. The top manager made it clear, however, that Nissan’s Golf will not become a competition to VW’s Golf, but will transform into its brighter replacement (externally as well as technically) for those customers who are tired of ordinary WV best seller. Andy Palmer also shared some information about the name of the future model. It will be different from what we are used to but will remind us of Company’s history.
The new model also has an unusual styling. The main emphasis in its external design is made on the front V-shaped grille. The assembly of the Nissan’s new model will start in summer of 2014 in Barcelona’s plant. That’s why almost 110 million of Euro is to be invested in that factory. The planned number of vehicles produced per year is 80.000.
